Many times we've heard about rookies going out and buying extravagant jewelry or twelve cars with their first check from the NBA but Marcus Smart is a bit

smarter with his money. Pun intended.

The Celtics rookie made good on his promise to buy his mother a house once he made it to the league.

Promised my mom a house if I ever made it and thank god I was able to keep that promise to her#mommailoveyou

According to, Smart got to visit the suburban Dallas house for the for time Sunday. Although his mother won't move in until after Thanksgiving he said he couldn't be prouder of the job she did in choosing it.

"She picked out an awesome place," Smart said. "It's incredible. I love it, so she did a good job. I just felt proud."

The young guard has accomplished so much already through high school and college but said this one is very close to the top.

"It's probably one of the biggest accomplishments as a young man, is to give your mom what she always wanted and to take care of her especially after she takes care of you all those years," Smart said. "To make her happy, it's a blessing. I thank God every day for the opportunity to be able to do something like that."
