Washington Post correspondent Jason Rezaian is on his way back to the United States after spending 544 days detained in Iran for perceived espionage and “propaganda against the establishment.”

The longtime journalist wants to assume his normal life as soon as possible, which means catching up what he has missed. In a statement published in the Post on Wednesday, Rezaian, a native of Marin County, California, revealed that normal life for him includes catching up on the Warriors.

“I want to get back to writing the U.S.-Iran story at some point in

the future. But I won’t be saying anything further for awhile. I hope everyone will respect my need for privacy as I take some time for myself and for my family. For now, I want to catch up with what’s been going on in the world, watch a Warriors game or two, and see the Star Wars movie.”

And really, if you were given the task of informing someone who had been out of the loop for the past six to twelve months — for whatever reason — of the biggest pop-culture and sports-related stories, the Warriors and Star Wars would be a great place to start.
